Headed South!

We left behind KOA and headed toward CT.
Our normal stop, Red's Eats was packed. The line went around the building and down the block! So, we drove on.
For lunch, we stopped at Taste Of Maine...it had a big parking lot. And looked fun. It was super cool place. Very kid friendly. Also, a deck. Overlooking a salt marsh.
Food was too yummy. Ate too much!

Sunset Cadillac Style

The temp dropped, so the jackets came out! We huddled together to watch the sun go down from the top of Cadillac Mountain. It was peaceful. Awesome. The hushed crowd of people clapped after the last speck of sun dipped below the horizon. Sigh. Perfect end to the day.

Back In Acadia

June 30, 2016
Pink antique rose bush in Bar Harbor.
After pizza dinner, we headed back into Acadia. Stopped at Thunder Hole to see it at a different time of day. There were amazing crashing waves, but gurgling instead of thunder booming.
SK and the kids hiked and climbed on the rocks as far as they could make it before water stopped the fun.

Touch Tank

We exited Acadia for the Dorr Museum of Natural History, College of the Atlantic. Totally enjoyed this. The ranger passed around and/or showed what you could find out in a tidal pool.
Kids were starting to show signs of being tired, but didn't want to slow down!

Follow the Blue Lines

SJ and Soso picked a random hike route...based on blue paint on the ground. They just started following it! Led to an amazing view...of course.

Tidal Pools and Seagulls

The most fun was also peeking into the tidal pools to see what was hiding. Sea urchins, periwinkle(little snails), and crabs.
Another bonus, witnessing catch of the day! A seagull pulled a crab up onto the rocks and carefully slammed him into the rocks. Each time hoping to break off the claws that were snapping at him! Seagull won. Crab became lunch!

Hike more!

The fog bank moved and we were able to see the Sand Beach and other side, and Old Soaker. There were so many pretty flowers tucked here and there in the rocks.
