Tallulah Gorge State Park
Stop number two on the road trip over the hill and through the woods. It was only $4 to park...then you walk into a great "interpretive center".
Stop number two on the road trip over the hill and through the woods. It was only $4 to park...then you walk into a great "interpretive center".
Truth, I kinda grab a map and ran...but it had a ton of information regarding the surrounding flora & fauna deal which Steve will enjoy reading. (Come on...after driving I wanted to see the big ditch!)
So, through the center of this center, and out the back door. The path was long...with steps and slope, but still not bad. Closer to a hike than a stroll at the last one.
I only hit one of the overlooks because I wanted to come back with Steve & Louie to hike the rest of the rim trails. Plus, it was creepy by myself walking through the woods. I'm no Emerson...more like Hitchcock or King!
Tuesday roadtrips
(Started the day off at the outlet malls in Commerce, GA...but it was too pretty a day for shopping. I had no focus. Put the top back on the Jeep and went for a drive.)
Toccoa Falls
This was the first place I went to with CSO at Auburn. Had to return to see if it was still there and beautiful. It's an easy stroll up a wide gravel path("100 yards"). Nothing to it at all to get to the falls. "Cherokee word Toccoah means "beautiful"."
Located in Toccoa, GA in the campus of a little college. It's a 186 ft high waterfall, and as you can see flowing pretty well despite the drout in these parts.
Apparently..."Toccoa Falls is the site of the earthen dam which broke on November 6, 1977. Thirty-nine people lost their lives during that tragic event." Wiped out part of the college.
That sucks. Looked up on-line, now no dam so won't happen again. Still pretty place...

Adventure for today:
Mark's alternator went out on his car...
Super Steve to the rescue!
Took the bad one out, Autozone, new one in! That mechanical engineering degree comes in handy once more...
When you don't have the exact tools per say...you get what you have around you. Need a "cheater bar" to put the belts back...don't have one. Kayak paddle same difference (the usual go to promoted to be a tool fishing net handle is up at the bus.) The Auburn engineering mindset pays off too!

Ok...so yet another sunset photo. It's way too easy here to catch one. Here is a bird(Great Blue Heron) hanging out on the sand bar out back. Bird was just kicking it when I got back from picking up Steve from the boat ramp. Bird did not move until Louie started the screech barking at the squirrels.

Squirrels, squirrels everywhere
Launched Steve this morning, ran some errands. Got a 10 minute oil change. Back at the camper working. Louie is perched at the window watching the squirrels bounce around right outside, drooling. Squirrel TV. I think I'm going to have to get some birdseed...and a window feeder...make this interesting. :)

War Eagle anyway!
Went to Athens to the Auburn/Georgia game...that turned into the Georgia beats Auburn game. Had a great time despite the outcome. All the Georgia fans were welcoming at the tailgate! Thanks to friends Trey & Kelley for having us! The "black out" that the Georgia crowd & team pulled off was most impressive. Maybe next year...
