Memorial Day

Chasing Bubbles. Outfit by Grandma Karen! Thank you!

Memorial Day 2

SJ outfit was also provided by grandma Karen. :) he's watching Soso chase bubbles and wants so badly to be a part of the action!!

Supervisor

As Steve drove the boat onto the trailer...I think she was side-seat driving! Making sure he did it correctly?

Barbie Rod Rocks

As I suspected, the barbie rod on deck as they rode out...Soso and SK fished for bluegills on their "boat ride". Whacked 'em! Soso was reeled in the first one. Then said, "You do it Daddy." after that...
She had a blast. Her eyes got a wild look in them when I asked her if she had fun. She replied with big eyes and wide grin, "Momma. We go fasser!". As she said 'fasser', Sophia threw her hands up high into the air...Uh oh.

Boat Ride with Daddy

Sophia has been saying all day, "I go on boat wide wit Daddy?". I just smiled at her not knowing if it could happen or not...had to answer, "we'll see...".
SK called for pick up today...and said bring Soso's lifejacket. :) I love it when an unspoken plan comes together! I handed Sophia the phone after talking to Steve...first words out of her mouth. Not "hello", but "DADDY! I go on boat wide wit choo?!".
She handed me the phone back after listening to him for a second and ran to get her shoes...
Sophia put on her lifejacket when we got out of the truck without a fuss. Walked over to the dock. Jumped in the boat. Went to (what use to be my) her seat. Plopped down. Looked at me and said, "Bye Momma!" grinning from ear to ear. Too cool...
Here's what it looked like as they idled out of the marina.

Fort Washington...who knew?

After launching Steve for the first day of practice,

the kids and I went on a ramp hunt.

The venue was National Harbor.

It doesn't have a ramp.

Don't ask.

The upside, we found Fort Washington!

Not that it was lost,

but I doubt I would have gone there...

we were in the neighborhood.

:)

Sophia exploring the Fort.
She thought it looked like a castle!
This would be her first actual go inside
tour of a fort.

SJ taking a break from eating the brochure for a smile...

he got the tour from the stroller.

Obviously, his first tour of a fort too.

My Soso...more interested in the flowers

than the cannons!

Group shot taken by a nice passer by.

SJ chewing on the brochure...

The body of water in the background is the Potomac River.

Sophia showing off her stamp in her

National Park Passport book

after we hiked up to the visitor center!

Sophia leaving Fort Washington...with a little dance.

My adventure buds.
Sophia has her "Tink Phone" in hand...
she calls Tink and tells her what she's doing.

Cracks me up to eavesdrop.

Soso was pretty excited about

this "wittle wrighthouse"...

we need to work on the pronunciation!

SHARK teeth in Maryland

One of my favorite haunts in this area is Purse State Park.

Thursday we went out after setting up the bus.A short hike through the woods leads to the sandy

banks of the Potomac River.
SJ rode in the baby backpack...lucky dog.

Steve and Sophia go to work looking.
She brought her Scooby doo net!
She grabbed it on her own, and it turned out
to be very useful.

Counting teeth in Daddy's hand during a break.
Sophia was more interested in the rocks and sticks.

We started around 6pm and stayed until just before dusk.

My adventurer.
Side tracked by a blue tailed skink.

My Potomac...no cars...no people.
Ospreys hard at work fishing.
Definitely no politics.

SJ holding a spoon for digging.

Back at the bus, the reveal of bags.

If we had known we were so close to 100,

we would have stayed five more minutes!

Final count 98 sharks teeth!

Sharks Teeth on banks of the Potomac

Stop for the night...

Here's where we ended up staying! Slept in the shadow of Charlotte Motor Speedway for one night only...could be a country song.
We are rolling again!

Stand Up

SJ is pulling up and furniture surfing already. He will be 9 months in two weeks...I think he's early doing all this. Secretly, I know Soso is training him! She's ready for her sidekick to walk!
Stopping for the night in North Carolina on the way to our next event.

While the cats away...

Sophia went to breakfast with Steve this AM. SJ and I were hanging out at the house doing laundry.
I put Chunk aka Swiffer down on the floor. He crawled STRAIGHT to Soso's room! He was giggling with excitement. The toy guardian was out!
He brought me Rapunzel...the one that hair glows. I hear Sophia's voice in my head, "No SIR, BABY SJ. NO sir!" as he chewed on he hair...

Exhibit A

We had cake for Grandpa's birthday! Soso picked out the squiggly pink candles for it. We sang. SJ went for his share during the blowing out the candles part! I didn't see it while it was happening...but here it is frozen in time. I think he might be left handed!
Happy birthday Daddy!
Soso is serious about these cake deals!
