Louie's Grave

I don't want anyone to be sad reading the following. It was a beautiful sunshiny day.
We laid Louie to rest by the lake. He was curled up as if asleep. I put sand beneath his paws from one of our beach trips. We put gerber daisies and dogwood clippings around him from home. Said our good byes.
As the last shovel full of dirt was placed over the grave, a strong breeze came off the water. The spirit wind coming to take Louie home. I now know what "rest in peace" really means.
We placed a large rock over the grave. We discussed finding a rock that screams Louie. (Poor Steve has no idea what he's agreed to...we are going to Hot Springs in July. I think Louie needs a crystal encrusted mammoth rock. Biblical proportion.)
Until we meet again.

Mic check...one two

Sophia talking into her flashlight as if it was a microphone backstage. Zona and crew are doing the preshow in front of the yellow truck in the background.

JUMP!!

Sophia enjoyed the castle jump thing at the weigh-ins. When she had it to herself!

View from bus

Our front yard this week!

Practice day two

Soso and Steve check out the lake. I have no signal on my cell at our campsite. Bonus, the laptop cord is not working. So like a pioneer, I will post when I go to town!
It is beautiful here in the parks and wilderness areas.

Ride to ramp with daddy

Steve made the cut! 41st place. But the big fun...Sophia rods in the boat with Daddy through the Dora Canal. They saw "free" lighthouses!! I'm thinking the yard type...and had a blast.

Day One, 78th. Plenty of room to improve!

Steve had a good execution day, just not the right sized fish! Tomorrow is another day to get some fat fish. He went to bed earlier tonight. Hope for a limit again tomorrow!

We were at the launch for the last mission
of the space shuttle Discovery.
This was her last mission.
So when I learned that we would be in the area for the landing...
I put the kids in the truck and drove over!
(Steve was having to pre-fish for the tournament
at the Harris Chain BASS event.
He was the one that pushed me out the door.
Said I was crazy if I didn't go see it without him.
Thank you.)
Sophia, with her new first haircut, waits in her
theme appropriate buzz dress...
She jumped up into my arms when the shuttle
reentry double BOOM! happened.
First sighting...tiny.
It flew in front of us,
turned around and landed right in front of us!
Well, across the water.
The turn back south...
all the birds in the area jumped with the boom.
It came down really fast once it appeared to line up.
The people out on the pier had a closer view...but have
to been standing in their spot for quite a while!
My little viewing group!
We ran back to the truck,
jumped in so we could get Steve out
of the water to go to the meeting.
Highly recommend seeing the launch
or landing!

Launch delay

Take off weather-horrible rainy cool blah. But they are off to chase bass! Soso napping while waiting...
Steve stayed in the truck to the last minute!

Don't Have to Say Twice

The sign at the boat ramp...uh...duh. Had NO plans of thinking about going in that water.

Road to bus

This our driveway for the week while we fish the BASS at Harris Chain of Lakes in Florida.
It's hard to believe, standing in this road, outside the front gate is a busy traffic infested headache of a four lane highway. It's a nice hiding spot for us...from that!
