Yard Sale-ing

A favorite Team Kennedy off season Saturday activity...yard sales and
estate sales. We hit the streets this AM! A quick breakfast at McD's
and we were off.
Sophia was the big winner. She found a Mickey with sorcerer hat AND
the golden book to go with the doll! (We spotted her $.50...she had a
dollar in her pocket to spend.)
Cute moment...as we were walking up, a little boy about Soso's age was
walking with his parents to the car. He had just bought the buzz
lightyear foot tall action figure. I thought she was going to tackle
him! It's the same doll that is at the cabin ar Martin. :)
Now, we nap!

Toddler Time

We went to the public library for the first time Thursday to a program
for kids Sophia's age.
When we walked through the doors, Soso saw all the rows of shelves of
books and was in awe! She said a loud, "ooooh!". She's a huge fan of
books.
I thought sweet. She's going to love it! When we got closer to the
door to the room for reading. She slammed on brakes! (Reminded me of
when I walked our beagle Hannibal near a drain in the road...he locked
all four paws)
I picked her up and carried her in the room. She never cried, but she
had a look of slight panic...as if the room was filled with spiders,
snakes, and bugs. We sat on the carpet with everybody in a huge
circle. She hid behind me for the first book. Sorta watched the first
song. Then warmed up to coloring part. Babysteps.
After it was over, I took her out into the kids reading area. Soso did
every puzzle twice, counted the fish in the aquarium, and read a few
books. I spent maybe an hour with her there!
Deciding it was time for lunch, I walked her to the front
doors...funny thing was...she slammed on brakes again when she saw we
were leaving. Sat down and screamed, "NOOO!".
Can't wait to take her back next week!
Here in the photo she shows me the hat she colored during the activity
time.

May 28 Visit

Long lost photo!!
I was cleaning up photo files to get ready
for the SJ photos that I know I'm about to take...
I found this shot of my cousins visit in May.
Anna & George and the girls were in town from Texas.
Just wanted to share our little group shot.
Love you guys!

Blue Birds of Happiness

We have three Bluebirds of Happiness from Arkansas
in our kitchen window.
Sophia loves to sit up on the counter, look
out the window and play with the birds.
She was in a rare posing mood the other day...
so I snapped a few photos.
Serious reflective
Showing me the blue bird
Spontaneous cracking herself up
Giggle smile
She likes to line them up on the counter
in a nice pretty row.
Momma bird, baby bird, daddy bird.

Playplace

Went to chick-fil-a for lunch after dr appointment. Sophia loves
playing now...I could hear her squealing and laughing through the
"sound proof" glass. Whoever designed it needs to go back to the
drawing board!
This is the best photo I could get of the blur bouncing around in there!

Steve floated the Chattahoochee today with our neighbor. He caught a
ten pound bass! Good times...
(Sophia and I went shopping!)

Dinner at Grandparents House!

Steve was out of town fishing the PAA event this weekend.
My sister Amy and niece Catherine
came down from TN for a visit.
We all gathered Saturday night at grandpa and grandma's
for a fabulous dinner(roast and veggies)
and
dessert
(layers chocolate cake, ice cream, whip cream, fresh cut strawberries on top)!
Sophia with grandpa...making sure he's ok.
They had a fake snoring contest.
Helping grandpa off the floor.
Only to move him over for the "bodyslam"!
Yes, Steve taught her this move...
he's so proud.
Getting some air for the pounce...
SLAM!
She loves to do it too..
Looking at the cheering crowd on the sofa.
Hugs for Cousin Catherine.
Poor Catherine had to put up with
so many hugs and kisses this weekend!
Sophia loves her.
Loves her enough for
the bodyslam too!
My brown eyed girl...was wound up!
Grandma shares all her cool toys during visits.
Here she is showing them a stein from German.
It has a music box inside and a dancing fraulein
in a recessed stage on the front.
As you can see the girls were fascinated.
Grandmas always have the coolest toys...
Hug for Uncle Mark...
he was smart enough to stay off
the floor and avoided the tackles of Soso.
Girls playing with Aunt Amy
"Ring Around the Rosie"
(the REAL version...
people die and fall over.
Not the PC stuff that is being passed off
these days.)
(Also, Soso sits "Indian style"...
not "criss-cross applesauce"
get over it.)
London Bridge falling down on Sophia!
This was another funny for the night.
Sophia had been body slamming everyone.
When I shouted out,
"Catherine bodyslam Sophia!"
Sophia stood up and protested the idea.
She very clearly said, "NOOOOO!".
I love the face that she made...
she was queen of the hill and not yielding!
All had a wonderful night.
Thank you mom and dad for having us over.
I'm sure your ears are still ringing!
We had a blast.

Art Today

Sophia used the glue stick for the first time today. We looked through
magazines, and I ripped out things she liked or recognized for her
first collage. :) (just glad there wasn't a McDonalds ad!) She chose
fish, M&Ms, ice cream, cookies, a dog in PJs, present, & toothbrush!
One good thing in there I guess?
Main thing...we had fun doing it!

While we wait...

Sophia and I went for a swim...in clothes of course. :) Steve is
fishing through the cove again today!
As of this post, no fish for the day yet. All good. We have a few more
hours to fish!

Ok...

"24/7 Coin Laundry"...that automatically locks it's doors at 10:30PM.
Opens at 6:00AM.
Does anyone else think this is wrong just a tad bit?
Maybe they should have gone with a different name?

Dinner!

FLW Championship dinner was tonight. Sophia finally had a chance to
wear her princess dress. :)

Snappy Steve

WARNING: DO NOT HANDLE THESE
TURTLES. THEY WILL TAKE A CHUNK
OUT OF ANY PART THEY GET IN THEIR MOUTH
With that said...here is our turtle tale for the day.
(I stop and help box turtles cross...they usually just
close up in their shells scared.)
On the way back from the service yard,
we met an alligator snapping turtle in the middle
of the highway!
A water turtle...he was clearly lost.
He was a big sucker.
Steve got Soso out of her car seat to see.
(I took some photos with his phone...
forgot she was only in diaper from playing in the hose
at the service yard.)
We could tell the poor guy was struggling,
fire ants were starting to cover him
even though he was moving.
We decided to relocate him back to the lake.
Meaning I asked Steve to do it,
he said ok.
Here he carefully grabs the turtle by the tail.
SK had to move the sucker off the road to get a better grip.
Off to the side, the turtle REALLY mad now,
Steve moves in for a better grip.
Straight off a TV show about wild animals.
The turtle, Steve guessed,
weighed between 35-40lbs.
The turtle was pinching the fire out
of Steve's left fingers by pushing back its head.
It was also trying to take a chunk of any part
of Steve he could get close to!
See the mouth still open and snapping!
Steve lowered him into the bed of the truck
for the short ride to our campground and the lake.
It took a while to get Mr. Turtle
out of the bed of the truck...
he was still pretty feisty about the ride.
Steve finally worked him into a corner
where he could grab the tail again.
The turtle was snapping and hissing...
not very cooperative!
Seconds before this frame,
the turtle let Steve know exactly how
he felt by relieving himself...
all over Steve's leg.
(Hoping turtle pee is good luck for tomorrow!)
Ninja like skill, Steve placed the beast on the sand.
Then, SK quickly JUMPED back.
As if from South LA, he popped up
hydraulic style exposing long legs!
And moved towards the water...
Without a thank you...the creature was gone.
Took a few minutes to go under water.
Steve said he was dehydrated and probably
had a few air bubbles to work out.
Nobody lost any flesh.
Turtle is home.
Happy ending to our turtle tale!
(Well...I haven't looked yet in the bed
of the truck for a turtle gift...)
I told Steve I was impressed with his
turtle wrangling skills...
he admitted that was the first
alligator snapper he's actually handled!
Then expanded by saying,
with a grin on his face,
"I watched Steve Irwin do it once on his show..."
I'm not sure if he was kidding or not...
I know there is a story, from his childhood,
about an alligator snapping turtle
taking a chunk out of a wooden boat paddle.
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Cool Find!

While driving back to the campground, we saw a lost alligator snapping
turtle on hwy. Steve picked him up, threw him in the bed of the truck
to take him to the lake. :)

Daddy part II

We walked down to the bank next
to our campsite to watch
Steve fish...
I knew that she wouldn't be able
to resist walking in the shallow water.
Sophia loves to throw rocks in the water.
(Cute mouse outfit was made by Aunt Amy)
As always, it starts out with ankle deep...
Then a rock calls her name...
she has to bend over and pick it up!
Steve fished the entire cove,
then came over to see us.
Soso ran out to the boat to get her hug.
Settled for a kiss!
She of course got a little further in the water.
A little more wet...
Oh, a rock...
Bye Daddy!
Steve goes back to work looking for fish.
More rocks to be had!
Since she was already soaked,
I just let her play for a while.
Splash stomping.
Blowing bubbles in the water.
Almost getting ready to swim on her tummy.
The sun was setting quickly...
Sophia kept asking for five more minutes.
Why not...I let her play.
More bubbles,
she needs to work on this...
I think she drank a bit of lake water.
I couldn't help but laugh...
check out the junk in the trunk!
She was wearing a normal diaper!
And taking half of the lake back with her.
I'm thinking she had a good time.
It was not fun to tell her it was time to go...
She'd walk out further...one more time.
My little silly goose!
