Children's Section HSC

Sophia weighs a huge number on Jupiter. They learned about the difference of weight on planets. Drove a mars lander.

More From HSC

The Saturn V rocket was inside on display, both tours stopped here. It was amazing to see the enormity of the beast laid on its side. Lining the wall was a very interesting synopsis of each of the Apollo missions. The crew and names were all detailed. There were flags hanging from the ceiling with the patches. Our favorite was unanimously Apollo 11. The cool eagle 🦅 was the closer!
Off the blue tram tour, we went to check out the children's interactive section.

Houston Mission Control

The famous words spoken during the Apollo 13 mission, "Ok, Houston, we've had a problem here." were heard in this building!
The "historical" Christopher C. Kraft Jr. Mission Control Center is straight out of a 1960's time capsule. (We will be watching Apollo 13 movie soon!) We were ushered at random and Sophia got the lucky chair!
The guide explained that many heads of state, dignitaries, and celebrities have viewed launches and landings from this room. Sophia was sitting in the exact chair where Queen Elizabeth sat during her visit! Sophia was excited she won the seat lottery.
SJ commented the sun is too bright in Texas...but posed for my photo!

Houston Space Center

We did the orbiter tour first. They have made a shuttle and airplane into a museum display. You walk down through the different levels of the shuttle. Then, inside the plane. Great displays and interactive things for kids.
We checked out the Mars display...we you'd be Hercules on Mars! Things are lighter there.
On to the tram! There was a blue and red tram tour.

Road trip to Classic!

We left and the 9 1/2 hr trip took 12...all good. We had a good eight hour sleep at a holiday inn express, so were NASA rocket scientists by morning...so we went to Houston Space Center!

Beauty and The Beast

The movie comes out tonight. The live action version of an animated favorite of the kids. We made themed cupcakes before the movie viewing. Red fondant roses and belle yellow icing.

Hunting by Moonlight

After the amazing sunset and dolphin show, we headed to the culvert to try to catch something. We found a flounder, stone crab, blue crabs, shrimp. Really cool experience seeing all of it up close.

Sunset

Always beautiful.
Second photo is of SJ chasing Soso with a crab claw...because he can and she runs. The side by side of SJ and SK were two different photos taken of them unknowingly...and walking the same way! They also dig for sand fleas the same way...wild!

After Boat Ride

The canoe launch is the new cool place to explore at low tide. We saw so many critters...hermit crabs. And all the ones pictured! SJ loves it. Sophia is interested from a safe distance.
