Colorado Final Day

Since it was our last day,
we decided to hike up to Dream Lake.
(We turned around previously because of thunder)
Before we left the bus that morning,
Sophia had a life lesson about gravity...
in the photos that follow you can see she
landed on her face.
She is fine...little rug burn to the nose.
Ready to hike in with Daddy
I know that a few of her hikemates can hear her
"singing" as we hike along.
"Blah...blah...blah..."
She waved at everyone that we met on the trail.
Shocker.
The views-amazing once again
When we reached fish-able waters...
Sophia and I held down this rock.
Caught a little catnap.
(Thanks Rhonda D for the pack/diaper bag)
While Steve caught some trout!
Back on the trail.
Yes that is snow covering it!
Ok, token cool shot of bird.
We reached Dream Lake.
Steve was happy to stay put and fish it.
Soso and I wanted to go further, exploring
to Emerald Lake.
I started getting warm with my 20lb front pack.
Shed a few layers.
Worth the extra hike to see the top lake.
We followed a waterfall most of the way. Sophia feeling the texture of an old tree.
On the hike down, stop for a group shot.
Louie was chilling at the bus.
No dogs allowed on trails...
This was a going away treat for us.
As we walked to the car, rabbit was
sitting right next to the sidewalk!
We watched him munch the grass for a minute.
Sophia loves watching the critters.
Especially the pushy chipmunks.
We rolled out of Colorado on Sunday.
It was sad to watch the beautiful mountains
shrink into the horizon...
Did I mention the entire time in Estes Park,
we never turned on the A/C.
The temp was perfect.
