Downtown Trick or Treat

Because of the game Saturday,
Trick or treat festivities were moved,
to the Thursday before Halloween.
Here are the photos from October 29, 2009:
A huge "thank you" to our photographer for the night,
my brother Mark.
He braved the kiddy scene to capture Sophia's
first trick or treating!
Right after parking, about to walk downtown!
Sophia was learning to hold her pumpkin.
It didn't last long...
I gladly carried it for her most of the night.
Only cost her a few pieces of candy.
Her first official piece of trick or treat candy!!
A kit kat - score for mommy!
(Kit kats are my favorite candy)
Sophia is checking it out...like...what is this?
She has never had any candy.
She picked up really quickly how to take the candy.
She would turn to me and put it in the pumpkin.
Nothing to this!
Here she is standing in line for candy...
our cute little ladybug!
Walking to me to stash away
another piece of candy.
She walked a great deal of the time
holding onto Steve's hands or mine.
Checking to make sure
Uncle Mark was still with us.
At just about every merchant,
Sophia was a hit.
(Steve never gave her up, proud Daddy)
(Steve just out of the shot)
There was a band set up in the middle of downtown.
Sophia enjoyed listening and dancing.
We stopped by the AHS face painting.
Ladybug got a black dot nose.
She might have received more...except for the face
she made and the refusal of the paint!
More candy!
OK, so I got her for one or two stops!
This is a hamburger place...
cute costumes out front!
We took a break from the action to eat here.
Listening to the music...
she was getting a little tired!
Oh but wait, back into the groove.
Sophia's second wind,
dancing with Daddy.
Steve made sure to go by the trick or treat table
of the beauty queens...
better than trolling with Louie.
At the end of the night
(that IS a toothbrush...someone was handing out.
It's a different world!)
Uncle Mark getting in front of the camera for one shot!
(Again, thank you for going with us!!)
Walking to the Jeep
Sophia is cracking up with her Daddy!
I know Steve enjoyed showing her off,
but I think Sophia enjoyed it too.
She loved racking up on all the candy!

Ride to the Country

October 29, 2009
It was a beautiful fall day...
so we decided to take a trip to the country.
Explore the dirt roads that call our name!
Steve installed the new throne for Sophia.
There were some grunts, but
he got it installed!
The dirt was muddy clay...
EVEN BETTER!!
Can you hear the Jeep salivate?
There were log trucks running in and out...
made for deep muddy nasty rutted out
FUN!
Two wheel drives, just stay home.
The leaves were trying to change!
Not the brilliant colors that we usually see,
but still wonderful.
YES!
Gosh Almighty Road.
Although small...some debris.
Driving across the creek is my favorite part.
Nice set of shoals.

Nothing beats clean country air.
Sophia passed out somewhere along the way.
She didn't even move when a leaf fell in the Jeep
on her face.
That is some good napping.
We found a turkey feather in the road.
Steve sharing it with Sophia.
Made for a cool play toy during the ride.
We stopped at the Price place.
Steve remembered hiking out and hunting
near some really big rocks.
We parked the Jeep , and set out for
a walk in the woods to find them.
As if he'd been there yesterday, Steve walked straight to the area.
You follow the ridge to the creek and boom.
Huge rocks that make a little shelter.
I named it "tombstone" rocks because of the huge sliver that
has broken off and jabbed into the ground.
Getting a closer look and feel of the Muscovite schist.
(Oh yea, I'm whipping out the geology 101 here)
Here Sophia is checking out a turtle shell
that we found!
She flipped it over a few times.
After taking a moment to take in the view,
the sounds(turkeys), air,
We hiked back to the Jeep and headed home...
get ready to trick or treat!!

Trick or Treat!

Last night, we went to the downtown Auburn
trick or treat.
(Mark braved the crowds of kids with us to take
photos, thank you.
Those pictures will be posted as soon as I get them.)
For now...here are the after at home shots!
Spreading out the loot on the carpet,
Sophia was so excited to see all of it in a pile!
Her first choice of candy a sucker...
grape flavored. An excellent choice.
I wish I had videoed this...the sounds
of muffled yum were hilarious.
I think Steve and I got as big a kick out
of watching her eat her first Halloween candy
as she did eating it!
Notice the drool running down the chin.
She later held it out for each of us to take
a taste of it. She's cute about sharing.
Back of the costume shot.
The ever dreaded, but I love, posed shot!
Notice she's keeping an eye on the loot!
She also tried a milky way,
a kit kat(better watch her step there),
and another sucker-strawberry cheese cake.
She immediately found the pumpkin this
morning and brought me a piece of candy,
saying, "Mo! Mo!"
(which is Soso for "more" and "open now")
I think her first trick or treat was a success!

Fish Shots From TX

This is from the hardcore fishing day.
(I got seasick the day before, so was banned from
this trip. They went way out there.
Sophia and I went to the beach...don't
throw me in that briar patch, oh darn.)
I don't know the who's of the where and what...
but here they are for viewing.
The good, the bad, and the funny fish.
Lady with a lady?
Kerry shows the guys how to catch fish.
That takes talent to catch something that tiny out of the ocean!
I do know that is about $1.50 a chunk that fish took
out of that swimbait!!!
Red?
I love this shot...
good photography by Steve!
OK, this is a Red that Steve caught when
they went into the bay in Kevin's flats boat.
Different day...but a fish.
AKA: dinner.
Wild looking freaky fish...
kinda creepy too.
