With the whaler in the water,
we headed out for our first day fishing.
No idea what to expect or do.
I was excited to see some variety of birds.
Some of the pretty sand dunes along the cut
After seeing the WAVES at the end of the cut,
the gulf was off the table.

We turned around and headed into the bay.

Fish-on!
Little under limit size,
BUT IT COUNTS!
American Oystercatcher and seagull
Sophia sitting up front with Kerry
I swear it looks like a submarine!
There was much debate...
OK, so it was me saying yes, "It is!"...
and the rest of the boat saying, "no."

Sophia liked to hang onto the side,
peek over and see the birds...
or whatever there was to see!
She would lap the entire boat a few

She would lap the entire boat a few
times before the day was over.
Please note that I have a hand on her
life jacket, but she didn't know that.
Got a little independent streak going these days.
She really wanted to drive the boat.
Who wouldn't, it has a shiny silver wheel.
Here she and Daddy have a conflict
of direction...she wanted to turn it
the other way.

Or really, she wanted him to let go!

As if placed there by the Chamber of Commerce...
Kevin hooking up with a ladyfish.
Kerry getting into the action...
Again, Soso was there to check it out!
Cool bait shop on the water near where we fished.
Back to riding.

Kevin jumped out to wade and fish.
So, Sophia and I jumped out the other side
to explore the sand bars.
We found hermit crabs, shells, and a ton of bird poop!

Mr. Kevin Short.
COVERED with birds. As we putted closer,
all but this one took off in every direction.
Even closer, it never moved...the creepy
headless bird of the tower.
Then, startled it pulled its head up out from under his wing.
Looked all around for his friends...looked at us.
With ungraceful panicked speed, an "oh shi..." look,
all but this one took off in every direction.

Hate that we interrupted such a sound nap.

Stopped and watched for a second.
We also saw across an island a few pink birds.
Never got a good enough shot or look of it.
For tomorrow...my little mystery pink friend.
I hope to see you again tomorrow.
Back at the bus, while I changed for dinner
Sophia and Steve held down the hammock!
They looked comfortable!

Our table was over the water on a dock.
I'm not sure that the food was all that great,

(Don't get me wrong, Steve cleaned his plate!)
The catfish ate Soso's grilled cheese...
FYI: Catfish don't eat lemons,
but will gulp down some coleslaw,
and oranges!
But not lemons.
