Wednesday 10/21/2009

At our campground, the grounds maintenance man
is out of a horror movie with the outfit!
I just stayed inside until he left...
I'm just assuming he's paid to this.
Too close to Halloween to take chances.
The weeds were getting a bit tall in our site.

Don came through for a visit.
He wanted to see the beach,
but Kerry and I didn't want him to walk out there.
The redtide was making us cough at our sites.
So, we gave him the 3500 truck tour!
Notice the "15 MPH" speed sign on the beach.
You can drive out on the beach here...
very strange, yet fun.
This is actually further down near the pier.
How is that man surfing and breathing?
Also, the guy fishing off the pier...
how can he breathe!
Loved that the beach driving conditions were "poor".
I thought it was fine...except for that one time
when I had to shift it into 4wd.
Fun times.
Don stayed here...
it was theme appropriate for visiting
with K Pinks.
A very...very PINK hotel.
Even the flowers in the flower bed were Pink.
The golf cart...was pink.
Kerry's reaction to Don's "safari room".
I asked if it was similar to
the "jungle room"...
very close.
Sophia checks it out.
I think there were one too many animals
that freaked her out.
Definitely much to look and see.
( This is Don's photos I borrowed.)
The room had a very elaborate fan...
mosquito net above the bed.
A ton of animal fur prints.
Snake in the tree.
Nero, the manager/owner, was giving
the story behind the snake.
Carved Africa root from some tree.
It was very safari.
There are other theme rooms,
we just didn't have time to see them.
Cute place with a great
deal of love put into decorating it.
I hope it does well.
Because there is a free ferry...we took it.
(L-R Don, Soso's hand, Kerry, and me)
Across the channel, did a u-turn came back.
I had just made the comment about
hating being the first or last car on.
Last on the ride over,
first on the ride back to Port A.
Don shooting the scenery.
I got out to try to see dolphins,
no luck so snapped a picture of the 3500.
We rode out to the boat ramp where Steve and Kevin
launched. It was another 4 wheel drive experience.
Here were some birds in the grass beside it.
Little funny...I think it was the scary drive in through
sand and water to the ramp that had Kerry jumpy.
She swore that there was a man in a hooded
sweatshirt staring at us!!!
I took a photo...then zoomed in.
I'll admit, if you squint...maybe a stalker man.
But really just cactus.
Kerry's submarine for the day.
Pretty flower on the side of the road.
This is the day that Steve and Kevin caught
Redfish, which became dinner the next night.
Wednesday, we ate dinner
at this place off Beach Street
in Port Aransas, TX.
It was fun to see the waiter pour the food ON
the table, even Don's ribs!
Because crawfish isn't in season,
Steve & Kevin both got the low country boil
with shrimp.
Kerry and I ordered redbeans and rice.
Sophia had vegetable beef baby food.
This was all WAY too spicy for her.
Soso like playing with the crayons
for the first time at a restaurant.
I think she made a few lines.
Going to have to get her some now.
She is beyond eating them I think.
Desert was DQ.
They closed the main part, but the drive-thru was open.
We had already committed to parking.
So, we walked through the drive-thru.
We got our order in right before they closed.
Best blizzard I've had in a long time!
(Photo by Steve...he was laughing at us
from the truck. Soso was asleep, so I
ordered for him.)
I took this photo when we got
back to the bus.
Baby girl was out cold.
Sophia dreaming...
