Big Ditch!

We took a wrong turn at Albuquerque and headed west.
(This was Saturday, Feb 27)
We had an unexpected surprise
when we headed north in Arizona
on the way to the Grand Canyon...
SNOW!
And I mean some serious deep white stuff!
Poor southern puppies react to having to use
the bathroom in the snow.
Sophia has seen snow...
but not this much.
In the gift shop picking up every stuffed animal.
She did get in the truck with a book(Shelby)
and a mountain lion(me)...
but not this cute little ranger hat.
HATE IT!
Shelby thought a true souvenir would have
been the raven...because that's all
the wildlife we saw for most of the trip.
Playing in the deep fresh snow.
Sophia and I at the overlook!
I was so nervous...
I didn't realize I had a death grip on her!
At this over look section there is a railing...
but we had just talked to the guy in the gift
shop about people backing up for photos...
off the cliff!!
Shelby, Daisy, and Bentley taking in the sights.
This was my first snow canyon viewing.
It was SOOOO cold.
We took a few photos then ran into the overlook
store/info building for heat.
Shelby, Bentley, Daisy, Sophia and I
Group shot!
I think right after this we began to see the snow
flurries start falling.
Last stop, Hoover Dam!
We actually drove over it.
In the background, you can see the
starting arc of the "new" bridge.
This is actually the backside view of the dam.
We couldn't stop on the other side
which is the view that is most photographed.
Next stop, Boulder City...
on the other side of the dam in Neveda!
