Day Three-Baker's Pass & Teller's City

Picked up Karen & Marilyn at their cabin.
Look closely and you'll see a mule deer in their yard!
On the way to Teller's City
Saw a Grouse
Louie was watching out for more
Sophia looks like she's explaining the type of tree...
this was at the ghost town that once was home to silver miners.
Why we drive up these roads-the views on to Baker Pass
Steve grinned like a kid on a big wheel.
Check out the GPS...that squiggly
line is the "road" we are on.
The ride was a little rocky...
but hello-Rocky Mountains.
It was tight at times...I think this is where
the backseat protests began.
I caught Marilyn in the rear view mirror
covering her eyes!
So worth it.
There has been a little rain...the road was a stream.
We finally got to the last half a mile...
snow packed road turned us around.
Next trip we make the end!
Because I'm from Alabama...
I stopped to build a mini-snowman.
My bare hands were freezing!
Steve did a great job of driving through the hazards
on the way up and down.
Here was a small snow patch that we did pass.
Lots of flowers
Along the way were waterfalls
Aspens were a beautiful bright lime green
We made it safely back to the bottom of the mountain!
Louie found and sniffed his tree just his size
Sophia, Louie, and I walked over to see the pond
Getting a ride back from daddy
The clouds are amazing out here.
Maybe because they can be seen for miles and
seem to be on a much bigger scale.
Soso taking in the view...of the back of her eyelids!
Mule deer
The road back to the cabin and KOA.
Notice the storms again, every afternoon,
but really were off in the distance most of the time.
Again, wildflower...can't look it up though.
Internet is way too slow.
I'm happy to be posting folks!
Sunset over Lake John, the perfect ending to the day.
I'm sad that this photo doesn't show the real colors...
The mountain range turns red as if it were on fire at sunset.
John Denver sings about the "fire in the sky"...
got it. He's talking about the sunsets.
