Ge-OOOH-des!

Ok, so here is the reason for lack of blogging this week:
Geodes
The area of Iowa that we were in is covered with them.
So...I had to find a few before I left.
Only four trips...and one was to find my lost wallet.
(See other post...)
This trip Kerry, Tammy, Norma, Jones, Alans and Martens went.
It was in a creek down a dirt road off the gravel one.
A cool critter on Aaron's hand
Clay bank
The water was freezing cold but shallow
most of the way.
The sand bars were the ticket.
The ones covered with a bunch of rocks.
AJ is standing on one of the sweet spots.
This is what we call the "brain" spot.
Tammy found a HUGE fossil coral rock here.
Climbing down the embankment to get to the creek
Pretty butterfly we saw on the road
Sophia and I ready for action!
She liked to pick up rocks too.
Didn't care if they were geodes or not...
as usual there were a few taste test too.
She's holding the rock bag for me.
Here's Tammy's "brain" rock
One of the geodes I found...this is where my inner
raccoon kicks in-bright shiny!
This is the loot from the super honey hole spot
from the last day.
Sorry Tammy, this is the one I wish you could have been there!
Mark with the launching crew told me an area to check on the
final morning.
